My ways of getting traffic to your sites may be very different from what you hear traffic gurus talking about.

Some experts say that Pay Per Click traffic is the best way to get traffic because it’s quick and targeted traffic to your sites, but you have to pay for it.  Not only do you have to pay for Pay Per Click traffic, but you also have to watch how your ads are performing and constantly tweak your costs per click and measure how your landing pages are performing.

Other experts say you should take the long-term approach by trying to achieve high rankings in the search engines for your carefully chosen keywords.This requires that you optimize your sites for the search engines then build backlinks to them to get free traffic at some point. Realize it does take time for SEO to be productive and your sites’ pages and posts will rise in SERPS, but not necessarily overnight. Also, because the search engines are constantly changing their algorithms, your site might lose it’s high rankings due to some changes made by the search engines on their end.

So what’s the answer here? What’s the best way to get traffic to your websites?

Before I answer that, let me define what I consider to be all the components of the perfect source of traffic generation.

1. Your goal is to get traffic without paying for it.
2. You want this traffic to be targeted, interested in what your webiste is about
3. You want this method of traffic to help your sites rise in the search engines by building backlinks to your sites.
