Article Marketing for the Internet

Building backlinks is one valuable benefit that you can get from article marketing.   Sending well-written articles to article directories and appending a link to your website can direct exponentially larger amounts of traffic towards your site.  Better traffic means that your website will rank higher in search engine results, which encourages more Internet users to go to your site for information.

Unique, good-quality articles submitted to the article directories can attract more viewers to your site, and thus bolster your standing in your specific area.  This practice is also helpful, expanding your reach to more conventional media who wish to use (and promote) your articles.

As you gain experience, you can hone your article marketing methods to the maximum.  What is important is that you start on the right foot.  Here are some ways to increase your market exposure through article marketing.

How to Write and Market Articles

Before actually writing an article, make sure that you identify the keywords you need to incorporate in them.  A great article does not always mean good exposure, as you will not get the numbers you want if nobody sees your article.  Keyword research is just one of the things you can do to maximize the exposure of your articles to the major search engines.  Use keywords or key phrases in the body of your articles, as well as related keywords or phrases.

Make a title or headline that piques or invites interest.  A casual article title, as compared to a bold and striking one, may cause readers who chance upon your content to move on to other websites for information.  Use the keywords judiciously – in the header, the article’s main body, and the concluding portion.  Do not stuff your article with keywords – this may cause it to feel stilted and turn off any readers looking for quality content.

There are no hard and fast rules as to the number of keywords incorporated in an article.  Too many keywords and a search engine may penalize your site, or the article directories may not accept your contributions.  Again, writing an article that is flowing and easy to read wins over stuffing your content with keywords.  Many reputable article directories will accept the articles you send, including some requisites, such as relevant keywords used and article summaries.

Do not promote your website or product within the article itself – the resource box or author biography portion is where you can do this.  Logically, creating an effective resource box is also integral to your promotional efforts.  Create your author bio in a manner that persuades any visitors to click on the link and forge on to your site.

Why Keyword Research Is So Important To Search Engine Rankings

Its absolutely crucial when writing content for a new web page or an article , that you carry out very thorough keyword research before you start to write the content.

The keyword phrases you choose to target in your content need to attract reasonable numbers of searches each month, whilst at the same time not having too much in the way of competition, otherwise you won’t be able to rank for them very easily, and you simply won’t get any traffic.

Now, not all keywords are created equally.  The secret is to identify the gems that attract plenty of traffic but have not “really” been targeted by other marketers.  What do I mean by “really” targeted?

Well there are several ways to analyse competition.

If you do a basic search in Google, you will likely see millions of results apparently returned, and the idea of competing with all of those sites may be a little daunting!

But if you surround your search phrase with inverted commas and search again, you should see the number of results vastly reduced.  This type of search only returns competing pages that include the keyword phrase somewhere in the page text, whereas the first search may return pages that include some or all of the words in the phrase at various places in their content.

Finally, if you place the following text in front of your phrase search, allintitle: , you will only see pages returned that have your keyword phrase in their page title.  This really indicates your real competition for your phrase.

The page title is the most important piece of on page search engine optimisation that there is.  If you want to rank for a particular keyword phrase, place it in your page title for sure. When I see less than 1000 pages returned for an allintitle phrase search, I know that i have a really excellent chance of ranking very well for the phrase without having to get too many back links to do so.

When analysing how competitive a keyword phrase is, I always look at how many sites have the phrase in a page title, it gives a strong feel for how many sites are really optimising for the phrase.

Keyword Elite , Brad Callen’s awesome software, produces a report for all the keywords you select showing monthly traffic generated by the keyword versus the number of competing pages that have the phrase included in their page titles.

So literally, within just a few minutes you can identify the best keywords for your site from 1,000s of keywords related to your niche!

So you can see that not all keywords are created equal, and therefore your keyword research will have a huge effect on how successful your sites are.

How to Make a Truckload of Money by Discovering Profitable Niche Markets

Picking the right niche can make or break your Internet marketing business. Sometimes, people trying to get into Internet marketing often get stuck on this part, because they honestly have no idea which markets are worth working on. Essentially, no one wants to spend a ton of time and effort building a website that receives very little traffic simply due to the fact that there is very little demand for the subject in question.

So, how does one begin locating profitable niches? Some Internet marketers suggest choosing a niche that you are either enthusiastic about or are familiar with. While this may work out in the end, the more logical approach is to determine what people are actually searching for and base your Internet business around that. Determining the demand of a particular niche is the very first step.

One way to do this is to use some free tools, such as the free Wordtracker keyword tool (http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com). Type in a search term and Wordtracker will display the number of daily searches for up to 100 related terms. You want to choose a term that has a decent number of daily searches – any number 10 or greater is worth considering. You may notice that the fewer number of words in a particular search term, the more searches it usually receives. In ths same way, search phrases that contain more words get less traffic, but are usually easier to rank for.

Now, go to Google (http://www.google.com) and type one of the search terms in quotes. In the upper right hand corner of the search results page, you’ll see the number of pages indexed by Google that are exact matches for your search term. Generally, when you are just starting niche marketing, try to target terms that have 20,000 or fewer competing pages when using exact match. Anything greater than this will require some heavy duty SEO to rank well.

Once you learn that a certain subject with great search volume and reasonable low competition, it’s time to head over to the Google Adwords Tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal) to see if there is any money in the market. Type in your term and see if there are many advertisers bidding for your search term. If there are a good number of advertisers, it probably means that there is indeed money to be made in your market. If you don’t see any advertisers, the search term you’ve picked may not be commercial in nature, and thus may be difficult to make money with.

You’ve now got a handle on a niche that has decent search volume, low competition, and monetization potential. As soon as you learn how to find quality niches like these, you will be well on your way to making some serious money online with niche marketing.
